HONR 199: Evolution of Ideas - Silence
ABOUT THE COURSE
This 2-credit introductory experience is designed to prepare first-year honors students for academic success. The course uses innovative pedagogical techniques and engaged learning practices to develop students’ critical thinking ability, interdisciplinary awareness, collaborative skills, and research skills.
The course is designed to build community, an appreciation for interdisciplinary learning, and to develop both independent and lateral learning practices. The course begins with a simple premise: every idea has a history. This simple premise opens up a multi-faceted exploration of human discovery and invention. In this way students are introduced to the dynamism of human knowledge and encouraged to the think critically about both the history of ideas and the development of their own.
